I'm feeling unusually moody today in the sunny state of California. I have the urge to do something, but I can't pinpoint what I'd like to be doing. I've tried drawing, reading, relaxing, swimming, and through that I cannot shake the feeling that I'm missing out on something important.

I'm feeling isolated from all of my wonderful friends. It makes me wonder how I'll cope after I get into college and have to begin anew, most likely without any of the friendships I have forged throughout my 13 years of schooling.

My aunt and uncle, who I'm currently housing with, are urging me to go to medical school and eventually become a doctor in any specialty field I choose. This choice seems to be the most practical. I just wish that I could feel excited about my future and the endless possibilities splayed out before me. The only thing I can see is a road leading to the edge of my existence, and then dropping off unceremoniously into the abyss of death. Work is the beginning of the end.

My summer schedule:

July 15th: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is released!

July 25th: We're (my family and I) are renting a house boat up in Washington state for five days, and are canyoneering down some canyons in the area beforehand.

August 15th: I'll be flying into Canada with my family and takinga cruise ship up into the Alaskan coast. Sight-seeing abound! This is a great opportunity to view the arctic landscape and wildlife, and I can't wait to take pictures of this beautiful area.

August 26th (or around there): Returning to Wisconsin with a heavy heart.
